Leaving work today I glanced out the window and spied a beautifully-sculpted snowdrift glowing in the early evening sun. It's only a foot or two tall but could be any size, even the stature of a mountain, and be no more beautiful. As I approached the parking lot I glanced through a line of trees directly towards the sun. Long shadows on the snow and a spark of brilliance made me stop and haul out the camera once more. There's a major winter storm due 24 hours from now and this is the beautiful calm before.
How much more snow are you going to get? My goodness. Well, you sure do get wonderful pictures of the snow. These two are great.
We're expecting around another eight to 10 inches over the next 24 hours along with windy conditions. The Weather Service seems a bit uncertain about this storm so we'll see what actually happens. Thanks for your compliments. I'm learning and relearning techniques for snow photography and pleased with the early results. — JG
