Somewhere Across the Waters
Our wanderings today took us close to my beloved Lake Erie shoreline. The sky near the horizon was dark but the lake reflected a mystical light of green-blue. A few minutes well-spent gazing upon the mystic lake waters.
Into the Mystic Waters

A thick bank of cloud was approaching from the west while rain showers passed to the northeast over the flat farmlands of Northwestern Ohio. I watched as intense spots of sunlight swept across the landscape — a dramatic contest between light and shadow.

Morning Lights
While I love to photograph scenes of nature, I also like capturing moments from the world made by humans. Buildings and their interaction with their surrounding earth, sky, and light are favorites as are details from those buildings. Structures and surfaces of all ages can be wonderful. What struck my fancy last Friday were some beautifully-restored old buildings in the Grand Pacific Junction retail area of Olmsted Falls, Ohio. Clear morning light swept across surfaces of newer paint covering chipped surfaces of ancient siding. Decorated rooflines penetrated the deep, blue, cloudless sky overhead. A person could get lost in it.
Top of the Morning
The late-day sun illuminates a spring-blooming tree appreciated all the more due to recent weeks of foul weather.
It seems we’ve had very few sunny days of late. In fact, it has been overcast and raining an a near-daily basis for weeks. This afternoon the clouds disappeared revealing a blue sky the likes of which we haven’t seen in, well, I don’t know when. As the sun set, its last golden rays illuminated trees in full bloom outside my office window. I grabbed my little Canon G11 and dashed out the door. Tomorrow is expected to be another pleasant day. The rains return tomorrow night.
